Our Facilities and Programs
WINGS of Providence is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide comprehensive transitional programs and independent living in a safe, secure, supportive and healthy environment for women with children who have experienced family violence.
WINGS provides second stage housing services. Second stage housing provides long term accommodation and accompanying support services for women with their children.
We have programs to assist the family to working towards independence. There is NO FEE for these programs.
1. Women’s Groups (no fee) Topics Include:
- Family Violence Education
- Parent Resource Groups
- Life Management Skills Group (e.g. stress management , self-esteem, healthy boundaries)
2. Individual Supportive Counseling (no fee) - Safety Planning
- Crisis Intervention
- Information about family violence
- Court Accompaniment
- Referrals
- Family of Origin Concerns
- Parenting Support and Information
- Case Planning/Goal Setting
- Primary Health Support through the Victorian Order of Nurses
3. Child Support Program (no fee)The Child Support Program provides activities, fun play and support to pre- school children four mornings a week while their mothers participate in group.
One morning a week, the Child Support Program provides a mother and child with an interactive play group. This group provides learning opportunities for child development, creative and fun activities.
One-on-one support with individual children can be provided in our Child Support while their mothers are receiving counseling.

5. Outreach and Follow Up Program (No Fee)The Outreach/Follow-Up program provides ongoing support to families after they leave WINGS and support to women leaving family violence but who have chosen to live independently in the community.
The goal is to sustain women and children leaving abusive relationships safely in the community.
The program assists with the following barriers:
- Integration into new communities
- Advocacy/Support with systems
- Poverty of women- The transition worker can help locate furniture, household items, and clothes which are donated to WINGS from the community
- Christmas Hamper Program for families actively involved in our program
6. Volunteer Program (No Fee)Volunteers are vital to WINGS.
The volunteer program provides direct support to families by assisting with child care duties in our child support program, security office, answering phones and assisting with administrative duties and sorting donations.
Other volunteer duties include assisting with fundraising and special event activities such as preparing Christmas Hampers and gift wrapping.

7. Public Education (No Fee)WINGS is committed to increasing the knowledge and awareness of family violence and the devastating affects to families and the community.
WINGS is involved with school groups, service clubs, businesses and faith communities.
